Dr. Allen Chan has been practicing in San Diego since 1988, his first clinic still open in Rancho Penasquitos. He began his career as a pharmacist, but later changed professions so he could "help cure the type of people he once dispensed muscle relaxants, pain killers and nerve pills to."
Dr. Chan is very active and generous toward the general San Diego and Asian community. He is the Vice president of the San Diego Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association and co-founder of the San Diego Alliance for Asian Pacific Islanders Americans.
